Reducing the wheat flour consumption

The per capita consumption of wheat flour per annum from current 26kg to 16kg, will be reduced according to the aim of the government, as per Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Sri Lankan maids working in Kuwait will not receive a pay rise following opposition from the oil-rich Gulf state’s labour authorities. Housekeepers from Sri Lanka were supposed to receive minimum salary increases this month in line with new rules issued by the country’s embassy, but these have since been rejected by Kuwait’s domestic employment offices.

Fuel price hike ?

Lanka IOC has once again requested approval from the Ministry of Petroleum Industries to increase fuel prices. Managing Director of Lanka IOC Mr. K. R. Suresh Kumar stated that a request was made to increase diesel and petrol prices by Rs. 15.
